The Indigenous Pharmacy Professionals of Canada Truth and Reconciliation Pledge
The Indigenous Pharmacy Professionals of Canada has introduced a Truth and Reconciliation Pledge specifically for the pharmacy sector.
The pledge begins with a commitment: “As representatives of pharmacy practice in Canada, we are dedicated to recognizing, addressing, and preventing the structural and systemic inequities and harms faced by Indigenous patients. We support Indigenous-led, holistic, and culturally safe practices that aim to empower thriving Indigenous communities.”
This pledge outlines five key promises tailored to the pharmacy profession, developed in alignment with several of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action.
The Canadian Pharmacists Association has endorsed this pledge and is committed to recognizing, addressing, and preventing the structural and systemic inequities and harms experienced by Indigenous patients and supporting Indigenous-led, holistic, and culturally safe practice innovations to empower thriving Indigenous communities.”
On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Centrum Pharmacy endorses and supports the pharmacy sector’s pledge:
“We commit to creating safe spaces for both Indigenous pharmacy professionals and patients, while advancing initiatives that promote Indigenous representation, empowerment, and leadership within pharmacy. We are also committed to understanding and adapting policies, frameworks, and training to meet the distinct needs of Indigenous patients and communities across Canada.”
