Centrum Pharmacy and the Centrum Pharmacy Walk-In Clinic will be closed for Family Day, Monday, February 16th

International Day of Women and Girls in Science

At Centrum Pharmacy, we’re proud to recognize the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, a United Nations‑designated day celebrating the critical contributions of women scientists and innovators around the world.

One inspiring Canadian example is Dr. Nardine Nakhla, a pharmacist, educator, and innovator who co-founded MAPflow, a platform that helps pharmacists deliver care more effectively. Dr. Nakhla’s work in expanding pharmacist-led services and improving patient care demonstrates how innovation in pharmacy can directly benefit communities. At Centrum Pharmacy in Orleans, we use MAPflow ourselves to help provide more efficient, personalized care to our patients every day. Her story is a powerful reminder of the impact women in science and pharmacy can make locally and globally.

Women have played a vital role in advancing pharmaceutical research and healthcare, from early pioneers breaking barriers in academic pharmacy to the many women leading scientific discovery today. Their work improves treatments, enhances patient care, and helps broaden our understanding of medicine and health — outcomes that benefit every community we serve. Learn more about the importance of this day and the ongoing push for gender equality in science on the United Nations’ observance page.
